Sean Lyons is the Principal Investigator and Responsible Officer for the piSCES project. He developed the idea and led the proposal from his belief that the end user must be central in the smart grid of the future. To facilitate this, they must be given the intelligence and control to enable them to participate in the market by availing of market pricing signals, distributed renewable energy and on-site load modelling. This two-way interaction creates prosumers rather than uni directional consumers who can play a leading role in the low carbon economy. Sean has led many high end technical projects in both the industrial and research spheres and has significant experience in the renewable energy space.

Tomás Cooper– Energy & Environmental Engineer.
Tomás have worked with BIM since September 2012 on the Green Seafood Programme. The programme concentrates on assisting seafood processors to reduce costs associated with energy, water and waste streams. Through this programme we work with seafood processors to improve efficiencies in their plants which have resulted in reduced operating costs and also improves the environmental performance of these facilities.

Professor Yacine Rezgui is the Principal Investigator from Cardiff University on the piSCES project. His role involves leading Cardiff University¹s delivery of a fishery port energy management capability. He is a BRE (Building Research Establishment) Chair in Building Systems and Informatics. He is the Director of the BRE Trust Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Engineering. He conducts research in the following areas: Building Informatics with a focus on semantics (BIM and Ontologies) and Knowledge Management, Building and District Energy Management (with a focus on the next generation energy control systems), Catchment and Urban Water Management (including modelling, data analytics, and optimization), Resilience of the Built Environment to Natural DisasterS, and Smart Cities He is also an investigator on the following University Research Institutes: Sustainable Places Research Institute, Energy Research Institute, and Water Research Institute. He has over the last 20 years completed in the capacity of principal investigator and co-investigator over 40 research projects funded from different sources, including the European Commission and Research Council UK (RCUK). He has graduated 30+ PhD students and is currently supervising 8 PhD students. He has over 200 refereed publications in the above areas, which appeared in international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics; Proceedings of the Royal Society A; Expert Systems with Applications; IEEE Transactions on Service Computing; and IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering.

Port of Milford Haven http://piscessmartenergy.eu/team/port-of-milford-haven/ Tue, 13 Jun 2017 13:08:53 +0000 http://localhost:8888/pisces/?post_type=team&p=565 Led by Tim James, the Port of Milford Haven’s piSCES team will be the lead implementation partner from Wales, with core focus on driving industry-led live data and test sites.

Tim joined the Port of Milford Haven in 2011 with responsibility for enhancing the Port’s renewable energy portfolio. He advised on, and oversaw, the development of key energy strategies at the Port and, just last year, his installations resulted in the generation of 5.6million kWh. Alongside his piSCES role, Tim oversees key initiatives such as the expansion of a marine energy hub and the Port’s interest in low carbon technologies.

Tim is joined by the newest addition to the Port team, Tam Bardell. As Estates Efficiency Manager, he has joined specifically to focus on the development of the piSCES project. Growing up in the Shetland Islands, Tam has first-hand knowledge of the fish processing industry which compliments his professional background leading on the installation of renewable energy technologies, heating systems, insulation and smart control systems.

Claire Lawrence completes the team. Claire recently gained a distinction in a Construction Management foundation degree and has moved across to the piSCES team from the Port’s estate management division. She will build on the strong relationships she has established with local businesses to ensure the project outputs deliver what the industry needs.

Together the Port team will work with our partners to deliver the piSCES initiative.
